Take Better Photos Of Water

Interested in improving your water photography? Water is a fantastic subject for photographers- it takes different shapes, moves at different speeds, and offers a ton of compositional challenges that can be incredibly fun to explore. If you're looking for some simple ways to capture more professional looking water photos, here are a few things worth trying.
First, the equipment you use will make a pretty significant difference in your results here. If you're shooting a body of water that's moving in any way (which most are, given how windy the day is), you should really work with a tripod to get the best shot. Even if you're working with an iPhone- consider using a gorilla tripod to keep your device steady. If you're using a DSLR, get started with a shutter speed of about 1/15th and adjust accordingly from there.
If you are working outdoors on a bright sunny day, you might want to use a neutral density filter as well. This will minimize the amount of light coming into your camera's lens, and will effectively soften the shot so the finished product isn't overwhelmingly bright and intense.
